Ten tips to kick-start a sustainable semester

  1. Green your wardrobe at The Community Thrift Store: stop by the store for it’s re-opening this weekend (1/22-24) and save 25 percent of purchases of $10 or more!
  2. Help plan Clark’s 2016 Earth Week: the Clark Sustainability Collaborative will host a CollabLab on Wed 2/3 at 7:30pm in Lurie for those interested in planning this year’s week-long celebration!
  3. Attend a sustainability event or conference: check out this detailed calendar with conferences and area events; many are free or have student and early bird rates!
  4. Take a hike in the Hadwen Arboretumbundle up and check out the trails; you can even take a rest on new rustic benches made from an ancient beech tree.
  5. Practice yoga or meditation: Clark Yoga offers free yoga classes almost every day.
  6. Choose to reuse: bring your own mug to enjoy your warm beverages and refill your water bottle at one of the many student-funded bottle filling stations.
  7. Sustainable spring break: offset carbon emissions from your travel, learn about environmental protection in Appalachia, or plan a staycation; there’s lots to enjoy within and just outside of Worcester.
  8. Pick a sustainability curriculum: there are endless opportunities to connect your studies with sustainability: classes, degree programs, and many research institutes.
  9. Unplug and turn off your devices when you’re not using them: also think about have screen-free Saturdays or Sundays to give your eyes a break and enjoy other aspects of life!
  10. Encourage others to join you in sustainability: Many of these tips are much better when you invite friends, colleagues and family members to join you!
