Several volunteer opportunities are available at the Worcester Public Library!

Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester:

ESL Tutoring:

Volunteers will work weekly with a students for 2 hours. Meetings will occur in public spaces, such as the library. Volunteers must make a 9- to 12-month commitment. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Kiosking

Volunteers will work in the lobby of the library to sign in tutors and students. You will also be working 2 hours a month on publicizing LVGW’s programs and events. Training will be provided.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization striving to enhance the libraries services to Worcester. They hold a huge annual book sale and help fund lectures, programs, contests and special events. Primary responsibilities for volunteers include serving in the book store and sorting donated books.

General Library and Talking Book Library

There is always a need for volunteers at the general library for preparing fliers, handouts, cleaning up misplaced materials, and special projects, such as department-wide retagging of materials.  The Talking book library also relies on volunteers for clerial duties. It is a unique opportunity to work with a very important collection!
