Spring 2010 Student Life Survey

The Student Life Survey Committee and the Provost hope that you have found the results of the Spring 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Student Life Surveys to be helpful to your planning.  It’s already time to begin planning the Spring 2010 survey, and that means it’s time for you to be thinking about whether you need additional or different data from the past year’s surveys.  Our plan is to leave the basic survey questions intact, but if you need additional detail, options include tailored comment boxes and an add-on survey that focuses on a specific department.  Please remember that with our comprehensive Student Life Survey, it is no longer an option for administrative offices to administer their own stand-alone surveys.

Therefore, if you need survey data from students this spring that is any different from what you received from last spring’s Student Life Survey, we ask that you contact Greg Doerschler no later than Friday, February 19th.  He will be happy to consult with you to discuss your plans and needs for data gathering and how your needs might interface with or be incorporated into the Student Life Survey.

The Student Life Survey Committee (consisting of Denise Darrigrand, Dean of Students and Greg Doerschler and Jeff Himmelberger, Institutional Research) was appointed by the Provost to limit the number of individual surveys to which students are asked to respond, thus increasing both the number and the quality of responses.  In the new system, administrative offices that wish to administer surveys will need to first get approval from the Student Life Survey Committee.  Benefits include reduced effort on your part (you no longer need to administer the survey and tabulate the data) and higher quality data.
