DiIorio’s ‘CRIB’ to be produced at Playhouse on the Square

Professor Gino Diiorio’s new play “CRIB” will be produced this summer at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, Tenn. “CRIB” was the winner of the Playhouse’s 2017 New Works Competition.

Synopsis: Tracy is an African-American professor in the midst of a tenure fight. Rajon is a star basketball player, negotiating the challenges of freshman year and his court prowess. When Rajon is accused of plagiarism and faced with expulsion, Coach Pari comes to his rescue, reminding Tracy that the school is run on athletic money, not on anything she hopes to achieve in the classroom.

Gino DiIorio is director of the Theatre Arts Program at Clark. His plays have been produced at a number of theatres across the U.S. and internationally, including New Jersey Rep, Penguin Rep, Urban Stages, Luna Stage, Virginia Stage Company, Seven Angels Theatre, the Arclight Theatre, the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, and the Garter Lane Theatre. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
