Clark cleans out: Donations to Worcester ReStore keep useful items out of landfill

The little building behind Alumni House on Woodland St. has been many things over its long life — stables, garage, apartment, and, lastly, storage. It soon will be renovated into a more useful campus building, possibly housing the Sculpture Studio for V&PA. This means that everything that has been accumulating there has to be cleared out! More than 17 vintage stained and leaded glass windows, including a large arched window, along with random items such as binders, a grill, foam pads and marble countertops were donated to Habitat for Humanity’s Worcester ReStore. Keeping such useful items out of the landfill is a priority for Sustainable Clark as we move toward being more of a Zero-Waste campus, and of course, contributing to the success of our community partners is always a Clark core objective.

Habitat for Humanity’s Worcester ReStore is a retail outlet that sells quality, gently-used and surplus construction and home improvement materials as well as home furnishings for a fraction of regular retail prices. ReStore offers great deals on building supplies, making your home improvements more affordable while providing much-needed funding for the work of Habitat for Humanity-MetroWest/Greater Worcester.

Note: The Worcester ReStore is currently closed, as it transitions from its former space at 11 Distributor Road to new space at 640 Lincoln Street. The grand re-opening date is not yet set, but check the ReStore website or Facebook page to find out when it is announced.

To Donate: ReStore provides an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream while helping to make the dream of homeownership a reality for low-income families in the MetroWest and Greater Worcester areas. Please note that drop-off donations are not currently being accepted at the Worcester ReStore location. For more information about donating, please contact the donation coordinator at restoredonations@habitatmwgw.org, or by phone at 779-2-DONATE.
