English instructor Michael Carolan recently was featured on New England Public Radio, where he discussed Irish hunger.

Recent data from  Ireland’s Central Statistics Office show that more than 3000 Irish are leaving their country every month. That’s  the highest number since the 19th century when the Great Famine sent those who could go, off to America. That famine, says commentator Carolan (proudly of Irish descent) is clearly part of his cultural DNA.
