Keep your cool: Shut the shades

With crazy heat and humidity predicted for later this week, please think about shutting the shades or blinds in your office to keep the room cool and dark. It will help save energy when your air conditioner is running! Window glass magnifies the power of the sun and can really heat up the air in a room, making your air conditioner work much harder to keep you comfortable than it would with the blinds drawn.

There is a 20 -degree difference between a room with shades and one with open glass.

Using less energy means reducing our greenhouse gas emissions through burning fossil fuel, and saving money for the University! If you have shades, blinds or curtains – keep your cool and shut them!
