Indianapolis, Ind. For the third consecutive season, Clark University diver Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) will be participating in the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, the swimming and diving committee announced late last week.

The championships will take place from Wednesday, March 23 through Saturday, March 26 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

The two-time NEWMAC Diver of the Year, has won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the past two NEWMAC Championships and was named league diver of the week twice this season.

“Eileen is a tremendous competitor, said head coach Paul E. Phillips. “She is terrific representative for Clark University in all areas, in the classroom, on the diving board, and within the greater Clark community. We are all excited to see her compete again at the national level.”

She holds all four major diving records at Clark and has the NEWMAC Championship record in the 3-meter.

As a freshman at the 2009 Championships, she was the only freshman to reach the finals and finished eighth with a score of 385.00 on the three-meter.

At the 2010 Championships while still recovering from an injury, she finished 16th with a score of 384.15.

Her events at the championships will begin with the 3-meter trials on Wednesday and continue with the 1-meter trials on Friday.

Garcia, already a two-time All-American, could become just the fifth three-time All-America in school history if she finishes in the top 16 in either event.
