'Neither Here Nor There': A Public/Private View of Photography

  • Friday Nov. 5, 1:30 p.m.
  • Razzo Hall, Traina Center for the Arts

Boston artist Gary Duehr will present a survey of his work over the last 15 years in photography and public art, exploring the ideas of surfaces, interactive experiences, and liminal space. Gary Duehr is co-director of the Invisible Cities Group, which since 1994 has created eight “large-scale urban detours” combining performance, poetry, and installations of visual art. He has been a visiting artist on public art projects at Harvard University and UMass Boston. In 2001 Duehr was awarded a public art grant from the Visible Republic program of New England  Foundation for the Arts to create “Square2” in Davis Square, and a commission from the MBTA for a permanent photo installation at North Station, which opened in 2005.

Most recently he installed “Hazards of Modern Living” for a two-year installation at Boston Harbor Shipyard. Currently he manages Bromfield Gallery in Boston’s South End.
