Campus Progress and The Huffington Post announce keynote address contest

Winners To Address Campus Progress’

national conference In July

Campus Progress and The Huffington Post have announced a competition in which young adults will have the opportunity to address the 2010 Campus Progress National Conference in Washington, D.C. this summer. Contestants will be asked to post video submissions explaining how they are working to bring about positive change on their campuses or in their communities. Readers of The Huffington Post’s HuffPost College, a college news and opinion hub, will vote for the final winners.

Contestants will be able to submit video entries explaining what they are doing to foster change. Six entries will be selected for featuring on HuffPost College. HuffPost readers will vote for the top three finalists, all of whom will win a free trip to Washington, D.C., to attend and address the Campus Progress National Conference on July 7. More than 1,500 attendees are expected at the conference, and the contestants’ speeches will stream live on HuffPost College.

“As a hub for all things college-related, HuffPost College is a terrific partner for us in providing a platform for college students — and other young adults — who are hungry for an opportunity to speak out against the idea that America’s youth has become apathetic in the wake of the ‘08 elections,” said Sara Haile-Mariam, Communications Associate for Campus Progress. “We want people to hear about the amazing work being done by young people every day, and we hope this initiative will inspire others to take action.”

Said Leah Finnegan, editor of HuffPost College: “We’re excited to partner with Campus Progress in recognizing the young people working hard in their communities and on campuses across the nation.  And we look forward to teaming up with an organization that seeks to help young people — advocates, activists, journalists, artists, and others — have their voices be heard on issues that matter.”

The deadline for video submissions is June 9. Go to Campus Progress for more information.
