What does working for Commencement mean?

Students will be assigned to assist departments in their responsibilities on Commencement day, Sunday, May 23rd.  Some of these departments are the President’s Office, Dean of the College Office and Physical Plant.

What hours will I need to be available and do I get to view the Commencement ceremony?

Depending on the department you are assigned to, you should be available on Commencement Day from approximately 9:00 am through 4:30 pm.  one or two students will be assigned to help for a few hours in the setup under the tent and in the Kneller Athletic Center on Friday, May 21st.

Yes, you will be able to view the Commencement ceremony.  Most of the assistance you will provide departments occurs prior to or after the ceremony.

What compensation do I receive as a Commencement worker?

You will receive $8.00 per hour.

If you are currently living in a residence hall or house, you will also be permitted to remain in on-campus housing until 12 noon on Monday, May 24th.  We do not, however, provide on-campus housing if you are currently living off-campus.

How do I apply for a position?

You must be in good disciplinary standing to apply.  Please stop by the Dean of Students Office, Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, to pick up an application.  Completed applications must be returned to the Dean of Students Office by Friday, April 16th.
