Apply now for the Lois and Robert Green UDSC Summer Internship

The Urban Development and Social Change Program is pleased to offer a paid summer internship, made possible by a generous endowed fund established by Clark alumni Lois and Robert Green, for a continuing Clark undergraduate student. The intern will assist a Worcester City Councilor, or the staff of a Worcester city government agency or non-profit organization, with a variety of projects and activities aimed at addressing issues of concern to residents of Worcester.

The stipend for the internship is $2,400 for six weeks of full-time work, 35-40 hours per week — or part-time work over a longer period of time —  beginning sometime in June or July. The starting and completion dates will be decided jointly by the Internship Supervisor and the Intern.

Additional information about the internship can be obtained from Professor Sharon Krefetz.

The deadline for applications is March 26.

Eligibility

All current juniors, sophomores, and first-year students who will be continuing their studies at Clark next year are eligible for the internship. Students who have declared the UDSC concentration and/or have taken a UDSC course are especially urged to apply and will be given preference in the selection process; applications from other students are also welcome and will be given serious consideration.

Application Procedures

Application forms are available from Somer Jones in the Geography Department office, JEFF 220B, and on the UDSC Website. The following items should be included as attachments along with the application form:

* A statement (2-3 pages) describing your background and qualifications for the Internship, your reasons for wanting to pursue it, and your interest in Urban Development and Social Change;
* Your Clark transcript (an unofficial grade report will suffice); and
* The name of a faculty member whom you have asked to write a letter of recommendation. The letter should be sent by the faculty member to the Selection committee via e-mail by the March 26 deadline.

Completed applications should be submitted (preferably via e-mail) to the Selection Committee by 5 p.m. on March 26 to Somer Jones, UDSC Program Assistant, Jefferson 220B.
