Robert Lesser is a lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in major international organizations. He has held several executive level positions at Morgan Stanley, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Firmwide Sourcing. In addition to his significant accomplishments in improving processes and saving significant sums of money for the organization, Mr. Lesser has expertise in managing talent in a global environment.  We are grateful to be able to provide this opportunity for GSOM students to benefit from interacting with an accomplished Clark alumnus.  Please join us for one or both of the exciting opportunities described below.

6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Small Group Discussion and Light Dinner (Conference Room)

“Openness to Failure”
Faced with rapidly evolving technology, increasing globalization, and a continually changing regulatory environment, today’s corporations demand an unprecedented level of innovation and creativity to succeed. However, change is daunting and the fear of failure often limits corporate leaders and stifles growth. To foster innovation and subsequent growth in organizations, leaders must be open to the possibility of failure.  This is a topic about which Mr. Lesser feels passionately.  It is sure to be a lively conversation, and one that will likely influence your own leadership tendencies.

7:30 – 9:00 P.M. Presentation in the International Business Course (RM. 101)

“Managing a Global Workforce”
Because we are operating in a global economy, many organizational decisions and processes have become more complex.  Drawing on his extensive knowledge and experience, Mr. Lesser will provide answers to important issues you may face in your management career:  Where should your organization’s operations be located?  How will you recruit and retain the best talent from a global marketplace?  What do you need to know to make your own temporary overseas assignment successful?  What are the new trends you should be aware of?  Take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to learn more about some very important aspects of managing effectively in many organizations.

Plan to attend the small group discussion and/or the in-class presentation, both of which are particularly relevant to working professionals. Invite a colleague to join you.

Please RSVP to Kristine Norrman by Friday, November 8, to confirm attendance and name of guest. Capacity is limited, so don’t miss out on this valuable career enriching opportunity.
