Gino DiIorio’s play ‘The Jag’ to receive world premiere production at N.J. Rep in January

“The Jag,” a play by Theatre Arts Program Director Gino DiIorio, will be given its world premiere at the New Jersey Repertory Company in January 2017. The play won the 2010 Firehouse Theater Great American Play Award, won 2nd place in the Premiere Stages Play Festival, and was a finalist for the prestigious Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award in 2011.

Synopsis: Seventy-year-old “Chick” Chicarella has one prized possession, a 1966 Jaguar that is in desperate need of repair. When his son suggests that they finish the car to sell it off, old family wounds and failures rise to the surface. Unable to complete the task themselves, they hire Carla, who is an expert in Jaguars, but woefully lacking in social skills. Together, the three learn some hard lessons about repairing cars and smoothing out life’s jagged edges.
