Clark now recycles Styrofoam!

Clark continues to find ways to become more sustainable and make local partnerships. Clark can now recycle Styrofoam! An exciting new partnership between Clark’s Recycling Crew and a company called ReFoamIt started late last semester. The objective of this project is to reduce and eventually eliminate the amount of Styrofoam that is disposed into landfills by recycling it through a partnership with ReFoamIt. ReFoamIt is a local business that recycles Styrofoam into other products such as rulers and picture frames, and was started because the co-owners realized that individuals, businesses, municipalities and organizations needed a way to recycle Styrofoam. This initiative will greatly contribute to sustainability on Clark’s campus by increasing the diversion of our waste and minimizing the amount sent to landfills or incinerators versus what we recycle.

Just drop your clean Styrofoam container — all shapes, sizes, and colors, EXCEPT packing peanuts — in any recycling bin and it will be sorted by the Recycling Crew. Even if the recycling bin doesn’t include Styrofoam on the list of what can be recycled, drop it in anyway.
