Economics professors Geoghegan, Johnston honored for work at Agricultural & Resource meeting in June

The Northeastern Agricultural and Resource Economics Association (NAREA) has recognized Professors Jacqueline Geoghegan and Robert Johnston, both of the Economics Department, for outsanding contributions to the group’s annual meeting in June.

Prof. Jackie Geoghegan

“Jackie was recognized for planning, organizing, and arranging our 2012 Annual Meeting,” said NAREA President Jill L. Caviglia-Harris. “We are certainly lucky to have faculty such as Jackie volunteer their time to not only complete the tasks necessary, but also go above and beyond what is expected. Her attention to detail certainly raised the profile of this meeting. And, you may not know, Jackie’s involvement in this organization has been extensive. She has served on our board, organized workshops, and served as president.”

About Johnston, Caviglia-Harris wrote, “There are very few members that have done as much for this association as Rob. Beginning back in 2003, Rob served his first of two consecutive terms on the board, later to serve as president. Prior to this and during this period, he hosted our 2006 Annual meeting in Mystic, Connecticut, was involved in organizing our first and second workshops, and also led the effort that turned the first workshop into a book.”

Both professors were recognized through a formal proclamation of NAREA. In addition Geoghegan received the NAREA Award of Merit for Exceptional Service; Johnston was presented with the NAREA Recognition of Service Award for his role as president.
