Contemporary Music Society in NY premieres John Aylward’s new work

Last week, the Washington Square Contemporary Music Society gave the premiere performance of Aura, a new concerto for alto saxophone and ensemble by Clark Professor John Aylward. Louis Karchin conducted at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York. The saxophone soloist was Mary Joy PatchettAura was commissioned by the Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress and the sketches and manuscript of the work are on display there.  You can hear the live performance at johnaylward.com
