It’s not just the grass that is green: Clark’s new lawnmowers are, too

Ahhh, the smell of freshly-mown grass…Clark’s grounds staff mows somewhere on campus almost every day of the week, so you’re never too far from that signature summertime scent. But check out the new Dixie Chopper mowers! Not only are they the fastest lawn mowers on the market, saving time, but they run on propane, saving energy and eliminating that other less-welcome smell: gasoline.

Propane is a clean and efficient-burning fuel, with far lower greenhouse gas emissions than diesel or gasoline — up to a 24 percent reduction overall, and a 90 percent reduction in harmful emissions like carbon monoxide and particulate matter. The clean-burning propane means less engine wear, too, and propane is a domestic fuel.

So, the next time you see one of our grounds crew on their snazzy new Choppers, make sure to wave and say thank you for helping Clark to protect the environment and achieve our Climate Action Plan goals!
