On Wednesday evening at 5:30 in English House at 12 Hawthorne St., Professor Justin P. Shaw, the chapter advisor of the Alpha Chi Xi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at Clark University welcomed current members and inducted new members of the International English Honor Society.
Due to the pandemic, the chapter has not met regularly in recent years, but with in-person meetings becoming more frequent, the chapter hopes to begin meeting again. Traditionally, Sigma Tau Delta is dedicated to engaging positively with the campus community that it occupies, as well as providing its members the opportunities to seek scholarships and publication opportunities exclusive to Sigma Tau Delta members.
The inductees were:
Mia Davis
Sophia Friedmann
Melissa Seidemann
Robin Bozik
Juliana Hall
Luke Knowles
Kelsey Heyel
Amira Aderibigbe
Miranda Namiotka
Michael O’Keefe
Cassie Mayer
Megan Engstrom
Gabriella DeFaria
Julia Dantzler
John Roche
Claire McGrath
Jordan Holley

Professor Shaw also took time to honor members that were inducted virtually during the pandemic. He had all of the inductees, new and old, recite the Sigma Tau Delta “promise” of sorts. He closed the ceremony off by reading from Amanda Gorman’s “In This Place (An American Lyrics)” which was composed for the inauguration of Tracy K. Smith as Poet Laureate.
Stay tuned for more Sigma Tau Delta updates throughout this semester!
