On October 22, Clark GSOM Career Services held a successful Career Expo for students to network and gain interviews for available jobs. Approximately 70 students from the MBA, MSF, and MSA programs turned out to meet representatives from major area businesses and corporations who were looking for qualified candidates. With suits donned and resumes in hand, the GSOM students did their best to show employer representatives why they were a match for their companies.
“Our first career expo was a great success,” stated Peter Bennett, GSOM director of career services and external relations. “Our staff did an excellent job ensuring we had companies representing a variety of industries, all of which were a perfect match for GSOM’s student interests. Student turnout was high and the employer representatives on hand were impressed by their knowledge and preparation.”
As large Boston and Worcester area employers, Commerce Bank, Unum, Macy’s, and UMass Memorial Healthcare provided attendees with valuable information regarding company opportunities for qualified graduates. Conservation Services Group was among the attending companies hoping to attract top graduates interested in sustainability and today’s energy challenges, while Alternatives Unlimited sought candidates focused on community building. Robert Half and WinterWyman rounded out the group, representing staffing specialists seeking to fill numerous corporate positions. Several students have already been contacted by some of these employers, and are actively interviewing for positions.
While a spring career expo is not yet planned, additional networking opportunities are posted on the GSOM events calendar. Students are encouraged to visit the Career Services office for resume and internship/job assistance if they have not already done so.
