Peter Bennett Hired as Director of Career Services and External Relations in the Stevenish Career Management Center

Peter Bennett has been selected as director of career services and external relations in the Stevenish Career Management Center at Clark University’s Graduate School of Management (GSOM), effective June 30. He most recently worked as a career consultant to graduate and undergraduate students and previously served as director of the Career Development Center at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Bennett also has extensive experience in sales and marketing for the insurance and financial industries.

“We are happy to have Peter join our leadership team at GSOM,” Catherine Usoff, GSOM dean, said. “His industry experience and proven success at building corporate relationships are a powerful combination. We already have an excellent staff in place, but with Peter’s direction, I know we will be able to do even more to benefit our students.”

During his five years at Trinity College, Bennett was focused on relationship building and outreach efforts to faculty, staff, alumni, parents, employers and various business contacts. Under his watch, the Career Development Center hosted over 500 events and programs and recruited nearly 100 first-time businesses and corporations to campus, including firms such as Credit Suisse, Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, ESPN, Google, and Goldman Sachs. Bennett also introduced new workshop programming to further students’ readiness for entry into the business world or graduate school.

“I am very focused on student outcomes, especially given the significant investments required to obtain undergraduate and graduate education,” Bennett said. “I am looking forward to working with talented staff and faculty to help Clark University’s Graduate School of Management broaden opportunities for its students.”

Prior to his time at Trinity, Bennett worked for Aetna, Inc. (Hartford, CT) as marketing director and later as marketing head of segmentation and alternate distribution. As the marketing expert for the division, he was charged with growing membership through creative and customized approaches targeting specific industry sectors. Previously, Bennett spent six years at Connex Credit Union (North Haven, CT), the 5th largest credit union in Connecticut. As vice president of sales/marketing and strategic planning, he led all of the marketing, sales, advertising, public relations, consumer research, and strategic planning activities.

Bennett earned his MBA at Northeastern University and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Trinity College.
