“Namaste” means “Welcome” in Nepali. Clark’s International Development, Community and Environment Department is applying a thoughtfully practiced, proven model of community development and social change in the town of Concord, N.H., working alongside hundreds of Bhutanese refugees of Nepali descent who are striving to make their way — to be welcomed and to welcome new lives in an unfamiliar place.

Clark students to help refugees in Worcester start businesses

Clark University students don’t have to travel to Iraq, Burundi, or Myanmar to help refugees with microfinance; a new course offered in the International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) Department allows students to assist these populations here in Worcester, and to help secure funding that will launch businesses and sustain livelihoods.
