MGMT 5786-01: Management Research Projects

Consider enrolling in MGMT 5786-01 Management Research Projects

This spring, MGMT 5786-01 students will complete a project at a major healthcare organization in Worcester.

The project will help the organization identify strategies for reducing employee turnover, which is high in some areas. Students will meet with senior management, conduct background research, conduct interviews with senior leaders or employees, analyze the interview data, and present their findings to the organization.

You will have a chance to strengthen your research (e.g., conducting employee surveys and interviews, analyzing data using appropriate software) and consulting skills. Past students have found the course extremely rewarding. Moreover, students find that the projects give them something specific to talk about in their job interviews.

Prerequisites include Foundations of Effective Management and some background in Statistics (STAT 4300 or some other statistics course). These prerequisites may be waived if the student has relevant experiences or coursework (e.g., a research methods course).
