POSITION OPENING: Community Thrift Store General Business Manager

Dedicated to sustainable business practices and social entrepreneurship, the ideal candidate will have retail and/or business experience. Personnel management skills, including staff guidance, team-building and effective communications desired. Able to balance multiple priorities and shift from short-term operations to long-term strategic objectives while maintaining oversight. Sales analysis or other retail financial knowledge helpful. Dual degree (GSOM/IDCE) Master’s candidate ideal.

The General Business Manager oversees all operations of the Community Thrift Store while creating goals and strategies to help the store achieve its mission in creating a more sustainable and connected Main South community while nurturing a healthy learning environment for all staff members. The GBM manages and works with the Front and Back of House Managers to create goals, processes, and strategic plans for the Community Thrift Store. The GBM responsibilities include the oversight off all personnel affiliated with the store, which includes: interns (this may include: inventory, finance, and marketing interns), Front and Back of House Managers, Sales Associates, and volunteers. Management of staff includes: enforcement of disciplinary policies, effective delegation of tasks, facilitation of meetings, and schedule coordination. Other responsibilities include using sales data to make business decisions in regards to store operations to achieve financial sustainability. The GBM also acts as an intermediary between University advisors of the Community Thrift Store and staff members, and interacts with outside groups and institutions on behalf of the store.
