GSOM Computer Lab Supervisor GA Position Available

The Computer Lab Supervisor graduate assistant will be responsible for supervising the Computer Lab Assistants including: creating the shift schedule for the semester, training new lab assistants, keeping track of student schedules and hours worked, and managing issues that may arise. This means that the student must be able to responsibly supervise their peers. The student will keep the lab stocked with office supplies and may be asked to do other administrative tasks. The student will also act as a Computer Lab Assistant, supervising the operation of the lab during one shift per week and assisting students with any questions they may have about how to use the software, how to print, etc. The Computer Lab Supervisor may be responsible for opening or closing the lab, depending on the work shift.

Position information: The position is for 9 hours per week (hours may be heavier during the beginning of the semester) for $12.00 per hour, supervised by Ainsley Watt, Program Manager for Academic & Student Services. This position will begin during the week of August 17th, but work required at that time can be done remotely. The supervisor may be required to cover an additional shift on occasion, if a lab assistant is unable to cover their shift and they are unable to find someone else to cover it. The intention of the position is that the student will be hired for both the fall and spring semesters, so applicants should not be graduating until the Spring 2016 semester at the earliest. Applicants should also have completed at least one semester in GSOM.

Requirements: Familiarity with MS Office suite and various marketing and finance software programs, such as MarkStrat, SPSS, MATLAB, and Bloomberg. Familiarity with a computer lab environment (including troubleshooting computer and printer issues) and experience supervising others is a plus. Preferred skills include: customer service skills, reliability, ability to keep confidentiality, and organizational skills.
