The Hausrath Leadership Speaker Series: Tuesday, September 30, 2014 – 12:00 Noon

The Bill ’53 and Agnes Hausrath Leadership Speaker Series, moderated by GSOM’s Executive in Residence, Peter Rowley, presents “A Passion for Manufacturing” with Michael Politopoulos MBA 1994.

Michael Politopoulos earned his MBA from Clark University, after majoring in chemistry and math as an undergraduate at Columbia University. After landing his first job in the chemical industry, he went on to found his own chemical company, GP Chemicals, which he still operates today.  Michael and his brother also established a brewery in Greece in 1996 and are currently planning a new brewery in the United States.  They also launched a Greek iced-tea company.

While Michael’s career accomplishments are many, he is most passionate about the state of manufacturing in the U.S. Based on the notion that the U.S. seems headed towards a service-based economy, Michael will focus part of his session discussing his somewhat contrarian view that there are still expanding and exciting opportunities in the manufacturing sector in the U.S.  Further, drawing on his expertise in the chemical industry – which is enjoying healthy growth around the world and is often considered a haven for engineering majors – he will share his belief that there are a number of chemical industry jobs for which MBA students are a fit and which also offer great personal benefits and satisfaction.

Students are invited to Carlson Hall (Room 128) at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 30th to enjoy this session!
