Available Position: Academic Probation Adviser for the Office of the Dean of the College

Academic Year 2014-15

Graduate students are invited to apply for the following position in the office of the Dean of the College for the 2014-2015 academic year. The time commitment will be 10 hours per week while classes are in session, at a rate of $14 per hour. While we will make every attempt to schedule hours around your other academic commitments, you must be available to work at least two days each week. Flexibility regarding evening or weekend hours is appreciated.

 

Any graduate student who expects to be enrolled in a graduate program through this academic year and who has not received a university-sponsored teaching or research assistantship is eligible to apply.

 

Office of the Dean of the College: Academic Probation Adviser

Primary responsibility will be to serve as an academic adviser for students who have been placed on academic probation. The adviser will meet on a regular basis with each probation advisee to monitor the student’s academic progress and to strategize ways in which the student can return to academic good standing.   Excellent interpersonal skills and interest in student development and academic advising are required. Teaching, counseling experience, or prior work with young adults is an advantage.
