Versatile, dedicated, and funny, Matt Wilson is well recognized and in high demand for his unique drumming style. He has been voted the Rising Star Drummer by the Downbeat Critics Poll for five consecutive years.

Matt brings that imaginative jazz spirit that to “Honey and Salt,” a shared celebration of original music inspired by Carl Sandburg’s poetry and the place from which Wilson and Sandburg (1878-1967) both hail: Knox County, Ill. More than a decade in the works, Wilson released an album in August 2017, featuring guest readings of Sandburg’s work by actor Jack Black and iconic jazz artists including Carla Bley, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, Christian McBride, Rufus Reid and John Scofield.
