DiIorio’s ‘Breaking in the New Boss’ to be featured in New Jersey Rep arts festival

Theatre Professor Gino DiIorio’s new short play, “Breaking in the New Boss,” will be performed as part of New Jersey Repertory Company’s All About Eve Festival of the Arts. This week-long festival, which also includes music, art, photography, and poetry, will feature the work of more than15 regional playwrights as part of “Theatre Brut,” a 7-session rotation of new works.

In “Breaking in the New Boss,” Evelyn is leaving her position as foreperson for a paper cup factory. She tries to school Edgar, her replacement, about what his job will entail and good leadership practices, but he is really not willing to hear it from her — almost, but not quite. The play is a bleak, post-Trumpian story of a smart, compassionate and capable person being replaced by a xenophobic and shortsighted one.

The “All About Eve” festival is the inaugural event in New Jersey Rep’s new West End Arts Center in Long Branch, N.J.
