The Visual and Performing Arts Department presents
a dance performance by the Crabtree Carabetta Collective

What makes dance so capable of expressing inner states? Beyond the sympathy afforded by the fact that everyone has a body and can move, how is it that choreographies about relationships can affect us so deeply as an audience? How do simple, recognizable gestures create larger scenarios? Evoke small, complete worlds? And what happens when those gestures turn and twist to become something more akin to abstract dance language?

Choreographers Brian Crabtree and Audra Carabetta will present a series of dances that will explore their own answers to some of the above questions. The dances will alternate from tender to brutal, quiet to raucous, delicate to forceful. What the choreographers feel will bring it all together is their long term association as dancing partners, the penchant both have for wanting people in their dances to express real feelings through movement and their love of music.
