Leaving Campus? Do This for the Planet & Climate Change

It’s the end of the academic year, but you can still make an impact on Clark’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Climate Change! There are simple, easy, meaningful actions that will reduce energy load over the summer. If you are not going to be on campus very much for the next 3 months –  classes are over, work schedules change, students are gone – please take action on the Clark Energy Saving Guidelines:

  • Unplug Everything (except computer – but do unplug peripherals, chargers, appliances, everything else)
  • Close Windows & Shades
  • Close Doors
  • Turn Thermostat to 70 or 75
  • Turn Off Lights Everywhere

FACT: we use more energy (kWh & Btu’s) July-August than we do in Jan-Feb; Oct-Nov;or even March-April. We are lighting and cooling empty space.

Remember Earth Week and the Climate Change Teach In? Since it is so easy to take action, why not just do it! If you are going to be in and out of your office, you can always open the shades and plug in the printer, right? But meanwhile…you ARE making a difference! Thank you very much for helping Clark to reduce energy and our emissions.
