Prentiss Cheney Hoyt Poetry Contest

Prizes: $100/$50/$25

  • Students may submit up to FIVE poems
  • Please print each poem separatelyBetty and Stanley Sultan Short Story Contest
  • Prizes: $250/$100/$50
  • Students may submit ONE story, not to exceed 5,000 wordsLoring Holmes & Ruth Dodd Drama Contest
  • Prizes: $500/$250/$100
  • Students my submit ONE entry
  • Entries can be a one act play or a section of a longer play, minimum of ten pages, not to exceed 50 pages
  • Entries must be written in standard playwriting formRules:
  1. All submissions must be the original work of the student. Since all contest judging is done anonymously, we cannot accept previously published entries which identify the author.
  2. The Writing Contest is open to current Clark undergraduate students, including matriculated undergraduate COPACE students only. Entries CANNOT have the student’s name on them. No handwritten or electronic entries will be accepted.
  1. Fill out the English Department Creative Writing Contents Entry Form. Entry forms are also available at the English Department Office.
  2. Deliver the form and TWO copies of all entries to the English Department office in Anderson House by the deadline date. Missing information will disqualify your entry.
  3. No entries will be returned. The English Department may present or publish winning entries. Contest winners will be invited to present their winning entry at Academic Spree Day.
  4. If in the opinion of the judges, none of the entries is deserving of an award, none shall be given
