Students: Apply by January 15 for Davis Projects for Peace initiative

To the Clark University Community:

Clark has once again been invited to participate in the Davis Projects for Peace initiative. This is an invitation for all undergraduates on our campus to design grassroots projects for peace. The selected submission will be funded at levels up to $10,000 and implemented during the summer of 2015.  Project proposals may take on any focus that student applicants choose — although the fundamental purpose is to use creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in developing ideas designed to build peace in the 21st Century.

Individuals or teams are eligible to apply. Proposal guidelines are found here. Review criteria include 1) evidence of student preparation, 2) ability to implement effectively, and 3) the sustainability of the idea.

We strongly suggest that you consult with Jess Bane-Robert in the Writing Center as you develop your ideas, write your draft, and complete the final proposal. You will also need to obtain a faculty mentor, and include their letter of support with your proposal.

Completed proposals should be sent electronically to Kim Fisher in the Dean of the College’s Office and are due by January 15, 2015.

The Dean of the College will convene a committee consisting of faculty, staff and students to review student proposals. The committee will review all submissions and finalists will be forwarded to the Davis UWC Scholars Program. Final selections will be announced by early April 2015.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you on this exciting opportunity.

Sincerely,

Mary-Ellen Boyle, Ph.D.

Associate Provost and Dean of the College
