English Department announces winners of the 2013 Leroy Allston Ames Essay Contest

The English Department is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Leroy Allston Ames Essay Contest.

First Place:  Allison Lanes ’13 for her entry “Ladies Lusting for the Conservative:  Enhancing Conservative Didacticism through Morals and Marketing in Samuel Richardson’s Pamela and E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Second Place:  Adam L. Kelley ’13 for his entry “Humanity Just For Men:  Lockean Linguistic Barriers for Feminism in Defoe’s Roxana.”

The focus of the Leroy Allston Ames Essay Contest is literature and/or history of England from 1750 – 1900.
