The Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Kaloosdian/Mugar Professor of Armenian Genocide Studies invite you to attend a panel discussion on The Use and Misuse of History in Turkey: The Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide. In the international arena, Turkey has developed a positive image regarding its attitude toward its Jewish population and for its welcoming of refugees during the Holocaust. Documentary films and books suggest that Turkish diplomats served as rescuers of Jews in Nazi-occupied Europe. How accurate are these historic representations? Did Turkey or its diplomats really work to save Jews? What was the Turkish government policy toward Jews in Turkey and abroad during the Nazi years? These questions are directly relevant to the Armenian Genocide. Is Turkey using one genocide against the other for the purpose of denial?
