Jewish Studies program presents talk on Yiddish and traditional Jewish life

Lying in the Ground Baking Bagels: Yiddish as an Expression of Traditional Jewish Life

  • Wednesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Sackler Sciences Center, room 121

The Program in Jewish Studies invites the Clark and wider Worcester communities to a talk sponsored by the Chaifetz Fund for Jewish Studies. The speaker will be Michael Wex, an authority on Yiddish language and culture and the best-selling author of such books as Born to Kvetch, How to Be a Mensch and Not a Schmuck, and Just Say Nu! Wex will explore how Yiddish, through rich idioms and nuances, encapsulates age-old Jewish cultural and religious norms, in startling and often humorous ways.
