Jazz Workshop’s biweekly open jam sessions begin Sept. 30 in the Grind

Clark University’s biweekly Open Jazz Jam Session, hosted by the Clark University Jazz Workshop, begins this Sunday, Sept. 30. Sessions are held in the Grind and are free and open to all.

Session dates (all are Sundays, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Grind):

  • Sept.30
  • Oct. 14
  • Oct. 28
  • Nov. 11
  • Dec. 2

There is a house group consisting of a complete rhythm section: guitar, piano, bass, and drums. All skill levels are welcome to come up and play. Expect to call tunes and play from the standard jazz repertoire, and be ready to improvise! Amplifiers, a keyboard, a drum set with cymbals, a microphone, and a bass will be there, as well as music stands and a few extra fake books (but if you have one, bring yours… you can never have too many!) Come by with an instrument and a positive attitude to play.

Or, you’re welcome to come by to watch, and listen to two hours of wonderful jazz music. You don’t have to be a musician to appreciate free live jazz! Bring some homework and just listen and relax.
